A sterling silver horse shoe and a ten carat gold fill fencing medal. This is a piece that has been constructed using the best of old and the best of new. The medal that has been sourced is a gorgeous piece of Art Deco design. It features a pair of crossed sabres and a fencing mask in the center of stepped Art Deco frame, and the iconic N.Y.U name of New York University at the bottom. Engraved on the back is the name R.A. Cinader 1947-8. This is the individual that won the medal at the university that year.
Robert A Cinader was an American television producer best known for his work on two Jack Webb's television shows on NBC; Adam-12 and Emergency!. Cinader was instrumental in promoting the widespread adoption of paramedic services by fire departments and hospitals across the United States. In particular, Emergency! was widely acclaimed as a pioneering effort to raise awareness and acceptance of this critical public service.
The other side, connected by a sterling curb link chain, is a horseshoe which has been designed and made by Foundwell in our London workshop, based on a vintage key chain that we acquired. This is part of a 'magic' key chain, where the hole of the key passes over the horse shoe, catches the chain as it does so, and then falls onto the chain, protected by the two charms either side. Both easy to take on and off the key chain, it is not bulky in the pocket or hand, and a great way to keep all your keys in one place.
