Seiko's Japanese domestically produced diver's watch was introduced to the world in 1965, after over 50 years of love and trust from professional divers and adventurers, now at the end of 2021, a brand new "1968 Mechanical Divers contemporary design model", the SBDX049 is set to go ahead to the land of Antarctica with the 63rd Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.

The SBDX049 featured a magnificent blue-graded stamped dial that expresses the landscape of the ice and ocean surface that covers Antarctica, the idea is static the beautiful icy nature that is being lost due to global warming and ice-melting.

The case, bezel, and crown on the SBDX049 are made of "Everbrilliant Steel," a stainless steel material that has the world's highest level of corrosion resistance and a beautiful white shiny finish that is regular stainless steel cannot achieve.

Similar to the previously launched Seiko Prospex Modern Re-interpretation models  and , the set comes with an additional blue woven strap using a traditional Japanese technique called "seichi", which is not only durable but also aesthetically pleasing and has an elegant finish for its structure of knitting in a bag shape and the diagonal weaving of threads.

Only 1,300pcs will be made available for this limited edition SBDX049, what's more, the SBDX049 is also paired with a sibling, the , only 600 were made available for this even rarer limited edition SLA057, and be a part of the fleet to contribute to marine conservation!
